Does Text-Image-Ai Empower Creativity?

SO WHAT IS MIDJOURNEY Ai?

First and foremost, Midjourney is independent research institute that was founded in San Francisco, California. The Midjourney team is led by David Holz and in February 2022 the they officially launched Midjourney Ai to the public. Midjourney Ai is a program that generates images from text descriptions and it is currently only accessible via Discord bot on the official Discord of Midjourney.

CAN MIDJOURNEY Ai BE USED IN ADVERTISING?

Absolutely, Midjourney (and programs like it) can provide inspiration and accelerate brainstorming sessions as well as reduce the amount of time spent crafting key visuals for pitch decks for example, its yet another tool in our tool box that will help revolutionise the future of visual story telling.

HOW DO I GET STARTED IN MIDJOURNEY?

–       (STEP 1) Sign Up

Go to https://www.midjourney.com/app/ and log in, you will the be redirected to discord.

–       (STEP 2) Find a Newbies Channel

On the Midjourney server, select any newbies channel visible on the left side bar

–       (STEP 3) Use the /Imagine Command

On the Midjourney Official Server, Interact with the Midjourney Bot using a command. Commands are used to create images, change default settings, monitor user info, and perform other helpful tasks.

The /Imagine command generates a unique image from a short text description (known as a prompt).

Enter  /Imagine  in the text field

After the prompt command you can enter your image description.

–       (STEP 4) Generate The Job

The Midjourney bot takes about a minute to generate four options. A job is any action that uses the Midjourney Bot, jobs including using the /imagine command to create a grid of images, upscaling images, or creating image variations.

U Buttons

U stands for Upscale and these buttons (U1 – U4) generate an upscaled and larer version of the selected image while also adding more detail.

V Buttons

V stands for Variation and these buttons (V1 – V4) create slight variations of the selected image while generating a new image grid similar to the chosen image’s overall style and composition.

Re-Roll

The re-roll button re-runs a job, In this case it would rerun the original prompt producing a new grid of images

–       (STEP 6) Rate Images

After upscaling an image, a new set of options will appear:

• Make Variations:

Creates a variation of the upscaled image and generates a new grid of four options.

• Beta / Light Upscale Redo:

Redo the upscale using a different upscaler model.

• Web:

Open the image in your gallery on Midjourney.com

–       (STEP 7) Save Your Image

Click on the image to open it to full size, and then right-click and chose Save Image. On mobile, long tap the image and then tap download icon in the top right corner.

All images are immediately available to view on the https://www.midjourney.com/app/.

–       (STEP 8) Subscribe to A Plan

Trial users. Have roughly 25 free jobs. Jobs do not presently expire but will also not renew. To make more images, use the /subscribe command in any Bot Channel to generate a personal link to the Midjourney account page.

CONCLUSION

Text to image generators like Midjourney Ai can and will impact our thinking while altering our understanding of Art. What makes this exciting is this feels like new and unchartered territory without limits but that being said, it still needs to be determined where these text to image programs will lead and how we will incorporate them into our social and cultural lives as they offer a new territory for exploration.
